By default, SQL developer will re-use a single tab as you browse between tables. This can be really annoying if you are trying to look at two different tables at the same time, or have to constantly switch between a couple tables. To change this, go to:

  • Preferences
    • Database
      • Object Viewer
        • Automatically Freeze Object Viewer Window
